Solar Powered Sterling Engine
Jun 2013 - Jul 2013
Energy from renewable sources is coveted but expensive. Solar cells though highly efficient, entail high capital investment. As a cost effective solution to this problem we developed a proof of concept for a sterling engine which uses focused heat energy from the sun's rays.
We collected sun rays using a concave mirror which was constructed using a mosaic of mirrored glass squares pasted on a concave satelite reciever. The focused heat was used to power the engine.
The detailed report on the project can be seen here.
